Your Beauty, Your Rules.
Last weekend my friend Abby and I decided to attend the Glamour Beauty Festival which was held in the Saatchi Gallery. As I am a beauty club member I managed to get discount off the tickets and I believe they worked out to be £35 each.
We decided to make a weekend of it as we hadn’t seen eachother for 18months as she lives quite far from me, so after a very messy Friday night and feeling like death in the morning we got up and made our way to the event.
As you walk in you literally enter ‘girl world’ as the plastics would say. There was different rooms for different things, you could get your hair done, nails painted, makeup, facials, photos, there was even a cute prosecco bar. We spent a good hour walking around, taking photos and seeing what was there. I think we went at the busiest time (Saturday afternoon) as it was packed.
There was a room by FeelUnique which is one of my favourite beauty stores so I wanted to check it out. You were able to pick 5 free products from a wall of beauty samples to keep for free. The queue was really long but we wanted to see what was there. After about half an hour in the queue, nearly passing out and debating whether the floor was moving or if our hangovers had made us worst, we made it. I picked these five;
1. Clarins SOS Primer
The Clarins SOS Primers are all about the three C’s, Confidence, colour and concerns. The primer is there to tackle any skin tones and textures by hydrating for 24 hours, protect against the environment, balance uneven skin texture and make the foundation last longer. I think the primer comes in 6 different varieties but the 00 Universal Light was the only ones in the pot to choose from. The universal light is meant to brighten and lift the skin, it feels creamy and made my skin look glowy.
2. St Tropez Self Tan Purity Spray
The St Tropez Self Tan Purity spray hydrates and refreshes the skin whilst developing a sun kissed, streak-free tan that lasts for days. This product is really easy to apply and doesn’t require rinsing which is perfect, and it smells like being on holiday. So perfect.
3. Ren Ready Steady Glow Tonic
The Ren Ready Steady Glow daily tonic smells really fruity and has helped my skin feel really refreshed and soft. It targets uneven skin tone, lack of radiance, dry and rough skin and enlarged pores (which I actually have around my nose area). I really like this product after using it for a couple of days and for £25 for a 250ml I think it’s amazing.
4. Comfort Zone Hydramemory Mask
A girl can never have too many face masks lol! I’ve seen really good reviews for this and as the full product is around £30, I wanted to try the sample first to see what it’s like. It’s a gel leave-on mask that hydrates the skin, fights aging and absorbs in 3 minutes. It felt really good on the skin and my skin did feel really hydrated.
5. The Jimmy Choo Blossom Perfume Sample which is pictured later and smells amazing. I love Jimmy Choo perfumes so knew I would like it.
It was about 5pm now and we wanted to travel back to our apartment, get food and make plans for that night, so we left. The event was honestly amazing and had many brands I love there. With the event you get a goody bag worth £180. Here is what was in the bag;
Mon Guerlain Perfumed Body Lotion
A full size of amazing smelling body lotion. This literally smells like heaven. I’m not sure about anyone else but especially in summer or on holiday I prefer wearing perfumed moisturisers or lotions instead of spraying perfume as I feel the smells last longer. I am so happy with this freebie and actually want the perfume too now!
The smell is a tribute to today’s strong and free femininity inspired by Angelina Jolie. It’s a fresh and oriental fragrance that has Jasmine, Sandalwood, Vanilla and Lavender.
Laura Mercier Foundation Primer
I was really excited to see the Laura Mercier primer in the goody bad. I had heard good things about it and was looking forward to seeing what it was like. The full size primer is £25, and although I love the setting translucent powder, I didn’t want to spend £25 on a product I might end up not liking or using.
The first thing I noticed is that the primer is lightweight and creamy, it also didn’t feel too greasy which I know some primers do. The primer doesn’t have a colour which is good as sometimes the colours wouldn’t match and leave a weird undertone. It also has vitamins A, C and E which help protect the skin from harmful, ageing effects.
Revlon Insta-Fix Highlighting Stick
This is really stunning. It’s easy to apply as it’s just a glide on stick and it creates a beauty natural shimmer onto the cheek bone. I prefer my highlight to be abit more extreme so would need to build this up or put another product on top, but for a natural glow I think this looks nice. The retail price is £9.99 which is OK, but considering you can buy amazing highlighters from MUA, MUR and Primark for cheaper I don’t think I would buy this personally.
Nars Powermatte Lipstick In Starwoman
As you can see this is a tiny sample, but I love Nars so I was happy to receive the powermatte lipstick for free. The shade is a dark red which looks stunning. I don’t really wear reds that often as I prefer nudes and lighter shades, but once summer finally comes and I have a tan, I’m sure this will suit me. The full size is £23 and considering how nice this lipstick goes on, the fact it didn’t feel dry on my lips and how it didn’t smudge, I would say that is a good price.
Gold Collagen Mini Pure
I love Gold Collagen masks and have seen these supplements that you can drink but haven’t actually tried one yet, I’m actually a tiny bit scared haha! We only received one mini in our bag but you can buy programmes containing 10 or more mini shots that you drink daily. It’s supposed to help preserve the firmness and elasticity of the skin with collagen, borage oil, hyaluronic acid, vitamins, sweeteners and minerals.
Elizabeth Arden Eight Hour Cream
Ok, I’m just going to start off by saying the smell of this is amazing! The moisturiser is really good and didn’t feel greasy at all, I get quite dry hands and this has left them feeling so soft and smooth. I will try this on my face too as I get dry patches around my nose and in the middle of my forehead. The retail price for a full bottle is £27. I’m not sure if I would pay that for a hand cream, but for a normal moisturiser or primer I would as I have noticed a difference.
Nude By Nature Perfecting Concealer
Confession time… I had never tried a Nude By Nature product before this event. I had heard good things about the brand and the stall at the event was quite busy. Nude By Nature is a natural and cruelty free brand that use powerful Australian native ingredients including Jojoba Oil, Lilly Pilly, Kakadu plum and Avocado Oil. This concealer which I’m happy was in my colour Sand is amazing. The concealer is meant to cover circles, hide puffiness and blemishes, is crease free and high-pigment.
The concealer is retailed at £20 and is only available in 8 shades, from what I’ve seen. Which is a little frustrating in today’s market when some brands are able to produce more than 15 shades. Over all I do really like this concealer and it does feel good on my skin, it did last through the day and doesn’t show my creases under my eyes.
Kat Von D Tattoo Liner
Yep, you read that right. Glamour included the popular Kat Von D Tattoo Liner in the bag. This eyeliner won the best eyeliner award in 2017 by the Feel Unique Stylists and honestly I can see why. It has a needle fine tip which is better to control when running the liner along the lid and doing the wing. It also has amazing staying power and is waterproof. I’m not the best at wings, I’m still learning to make them look really sharp but I feel this eyeliner is really easy to use.
Fresh Rose Face Mask
The Rose Face Mask by Fresh is infused with real rose petals and is meant to restore radiance, hydrates and tone your complexion. Again, I haven’t tried any products from Fresh before but as I love a face mask I was excited to try. The first thing I noticed was it smelt beautiful. You only leave the mask on for about 10 minutes and rinse with water, my skin instantly felt soft and more nourished. The price of this product is £52 for the 100ml and £21 for the 30ml, I would purchase the 30ml again as my skin feels amazing.
Pixi Rose Tonic
Pixi is fast becoming one of my favourite skin brands and I’m literally obsessed with the Glow Tonic. The Rose Tonic is new to the Pixi family and is meant to hydrate and neutralise the skin, you apply it in the morning and evening after cleansing. The Rose Tonic smells really nice and made my skin feel so refreshed and hydrated. This product is only £10 and I would 100% recommend it to everyone as it’s fine for all skin types. I love how Pixi’s brand has developed over the last couple years and grown into makeup and beauty. The mint green and gold packaging is always cute too.
Caudalie Instant Foaming Cleanser
This product is meant to refresh the skin by removing makeup and dirt for a deep, cleansing experience. It is ideal for all skin types and smoothes redness too. I apply this in the evening when washing my face, rinse with water and then my skin feels clean. It’s a handy product to have as I hate just removing makeup with face wipes.
In the goody bag was also a few amazing hair products, including a large Batiste Dry Shampoo in Original which was actually in my car while I was taking these photos (oops). I Use Batiste Dark Dry Shampoo all the time and love the tropical one too. Dry shampoos are literally the best thing ever as sometimes you really can’t be bothered to spend ages washing and drying your hair, or even on those days when your hair just doesn’t want to do anything abit of dry shampoo can help make it big and full of life again.
The GHD stand at the festival probably had the longest queue as you can get your hair styled for free by the professionals and they give you freebie and advice on how to style. Unfortunately as the queue was manic, we didn’t get this done, however the free hairspray we received in the bag is really good! It doesn’t smell too powerful like some hairsprays do and I used it after i curled my hair and my hair stayed put.
The Schwarzkopf stand was another really popular one, as people could have their hair spray coloured and cool styled. We received a free hair colour spray in Rose Gold Blush which I love. My hair I think is too dark to try it as I have brown hair, so I might keep this to the side for when my hair goes abit lighter in summer. It would be amazing to try it as it is a wash in and out spray.
I’ve actually been using OGX for a while now, I’m obsessed with their Argan Oil Serum spray that I use before drying my hair and I’ve been using the coconut oil spray too. I had noticed that since I started using the Argan Oil my hair grew so long after not growing for years and having to wear extensions. These are the mini shampoo and conditioners but the size is really good for travelling as there’s still alot in them.
We also received free samples like tea, perfumes, and shampoo and conditions from John Frieda. The Jimmy Choo Blossom was my 5th product from the FeelUnique Stands as I wanted to smell it and try it (it’s beautiful). I really like the Amazing Grace one too. There was also discount codes for FeelUnique and Philips.
There was so many activities, brands, speeches, photo walls, drinks, you name it! I would recommend going to the next years event as even the free bag full of products is worth it, to try brands you might not of tried before and find new beauty products to love.
