When creating content for blogging and social media, it can be confusing on how to create amazing edits or which quick and easy scheduling tools to use to help you. I’ve found over time I have experimented with quite a few tools and apps, especially when working as a marketing executive and having the money to play around with paid tools (which most of the time you really don’t need). The following tools and apps are ones I constantly use for my blog and social media, as I just find them so easy.
1. Canva.
Canva is a great app to use when you don’t want to pay for a tool like Photoshop. You can create quick graphic designs using the social templates for the right sizes. There are different tools like logos, text and colours to create your perfect images. I mostly use Canva for Pinterest, Instagram highlights or Blog images.
2. Lightroom.
One of my most favourite editing apps. Lightroom is a great way to create that perfect instagram theme. You can create presets that you can easily apply to your images in a few simple clicks on either your phone or laptop, so it’s perfect for when you’re on the go too. The other editing buttons in this app help your photos really stand out, especially using the selective tool.
Before and after edit using Lightroom preset. As you can see I lightened the colour of the sky to match the blue in my previous Instagram photos and I matched the colour of the sand to a lighter tone. The edit now matches my feed.
3. Facetune 2.
I love using Facetune 2 for whitening my backgrounds and adding a few details here and there in my photos.
4. Unfold.
Unfold is my go to for instagram stories. This app is great for creating beautiful stories with different fonts and interesting backgrounds to add something different to your stories.
5. Mojo.
I use Mojo for instagram story videos. This creates the amazing moving imagery that you see on instagram stories with creative text that can be added. This app is great for when you want to create a few slides that smoothly run into each other, for example a campaign you are promoting.
6. Caption Writer.
When I want to write a long Instagram caption, I love using paragraphs and find this app to be so useful in breaking up the caption to make it readable. You can also add your hashtags in this app too which makes it super useful and quick.
7. Planoy.
I love being able to see how my feed looks before posting to check that the photos all flow and match. Planoy is a great tool for letting you see how your feed will look. You can simply use it for free to see the basic look of your Instagram, or pay for the tools to actually schedule your content.
8. Splice.
In the past when I’ve created videos, I found splice a simple and effective tool for editing. You can break up the video to shorten it, create music and add text where needed too. This is a great app for creating IGTV content.
These are my favourite apps to use at the moment for blogging and social media, do you use any of these or do you have any I haven’t mentioned that you would recommend?
I have Unfold but haven’t really used it properly. I definitely need to experiment more with that one! Your Lightroom edit is amazing!
Unfold is really fun, I do love instagram’s stories tools, but I just find with unfold you can be a little more creative as theirs more tools to play around with and match your look. Thanks so much for the comment xx
Great post! Thank you for sharing! I use Canva and splice and they are very good!
Thank you for your comment! Canva is great isn’t it xx
I edit my photo’s with Lightroom also and I absolutely love it! I love using Canva for my Pinterest photo’s and I use Caption Writer for, like you said, those long captions that need spacing on Instagram captions, a great post lovely!

Thank you for the comment! Lightroom is amazing isn’t it, I just find my edits on my mobile photos so much clearer when I edit on there which is great for when I haven’t used my camera. It’s great how easy it is to create great content without the pricey software haha xx
I use lightroom for all my photography and have done for years! I love canva too! I gave up on photoshop for creating graphics after using canva and it’s so much more convenient!
I love lightroom so much, I just find my images look so much clearer regarding whether I took the images on my phone or digital camera. Haha photoshop was so confusing, I only really know the basics of it, while with Canva I just find it so easy. Thank you for taking the time to comment lovely xx
I’ve not really used many of these so great to hear about them and how they can be used. I do use canva though to create Pinterest pins and find it super easy!
I love Canva for creating graphics and templates as it’s super easy. I recommend the others, especially Lightroom. Thank you for taking the time to read my post lovely x
Great post! Though I use several of these, there are a few I’d never heard of and will need to check out. Thanks for sharing!
Thanks so much for taking the time out to read and comment. Hopefully the ones you haven’t tried yet will be helpful for you haha x
Such a fan of Canva! Like my most used website for blogging and work!

It’s amazing isn’t it and so easy to use! Thank you for taking the time to read my post lovely x
These are some great suggestions; I downloaded Unfold yesterday but haven’t used it to it’s full potential yet! I will be downloading a few of these apps – Lightroom looks great! Canva is also a lifesaver.

Unfold is really good once you learn the basics! I just love how there are different fonts available and you can be more creative than what Instagram Stories offer at the moment. Lightroom is amazing too, it does look complicated when you first download haha, but you gradually learn the features. Enjoy and thank you so much for taking the time to read and comment x
This is such a helpful post. I love editing my photos with lightroom but there were a few apps I hadn’t heard of before so I’m downloading then as I write this. I found the app Later really helpful because you can schedule your posts and set reminders to post
Thank you for taking the time to read and comment. Hopefully the other apps I mentioned help you in someway. Later is really good too, I like how easy it is to schedule content in advance x
I absolutely love Lightroom, it is my go to!

It’s amazing isn’t it! I like how I don’t need to worry about taking my camera everywhere as Lightroom helps my mobile shots look just as good. Thank you for taking the time to read and comment x
Wow, I’m really glad I found this post, because I haven’t heard about a lot of these. I’ve known about lightroom for a while, and have wanted to use it (I blog about food and art, and i want my photos to be prettier), but I think I’ve just been too intimidated to sit down and learn how to use it. I’ll tackle that next and then the other app you mention here. Great post!
Thank you for taking the time to read and comment. I really hope these apps help you, Lightroom does look confusing when you first download it but once you play around with the settings it’s quite easy. I would recommend paying for a preset if you can from Etsy (just type in Lightroom Mobile presets) and usually you get a pack for about £5 max, download the preset and then you can just apply and edit to how you want the photos to look. Then once you’ve gotten used to the app you can create your own. x
I need to figure lightroom out. I downloaded the app, but never got around to working in it much.
Lightroom does look confusing when you first download it! My advise would be to apply a preset and then you can edit small details from there. Thank you for taking the time to read x
